‘Sunset Steam Special’
On the Mount Washington Cog Railway
Base Station/Marshfield, NH to the Summit with STEAM POWER!
Saturday, July 28, 2012 ONLY!!

Cog Railway Steam engineTRIP UPDATE JUNE 25, 2012: TRIP IS SOLD OUT.

The Mount Washington Cog Railway has mostly "gone diesel." Only one scheduled steam train a day, early mornings in the summertime, still climbs to the "Top of New England" — the 6288'-high peak of Mount Washington. For steam railway buffs of all ages, Mass Bay RRE has arranged a special late-afternoon steam-powered train on the Cog Railway.

This unique afternoon begins at 4:00 PM at Base Station with a tour through the railway's 1897 shops. After a long look at the Cog's surviving steam locomotives, and the bio-fuel diesels that have mostly taken their place, we'll board our charter train for a ride from the shops back to Marshfield. At 5:30 PM, our special departs from Marshfield for the trip to the summit.
