Mass Bay RRE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational corporation, organized for the promotion of public interest and understanding of railroads.

MBRRE's Program Meeting locations may vary. Most meetings will be held at the Union Church in Waban. Please read all announcements carefully. Directions.

Third Thursday Program/Social: We have an exciting lineup of speakers and events for our program meetings: Northeast Corridor; Valley Railroad; a Railroad President; Classic Films; Civil Engineer Whistler. Excursions: Saturday, June 21: MBRRE 'ZIP TRIP' -- Group circle tour on Amtrak, South Station - New York Penn - Albany - Boston using regular Amtrak trains. See details on the Activities Page (button above). Saturday, July 12: PICNIC AT PALMER: An informal get-together at the Steaming Tender Restaurant in Palmer for train watching and socializing. Details & order form HERE. Visit Steaming Tender Web site HERE Saturday, July 26: MAINE EASTERN RAILROAD: Group trip using Maine Eastern's regularly-scheduled train Brunswick to Rockland & return. Side trip in Rockland to Owl's Head Transportation Museum. Package will include motor coach transportation Boston to Brunswick. Full trip details HERE . Saturday, August 16: GATHERING AT CHESTER at the well-preserved Western Railroad station in Chester, MA. Train-watching, optional dinner and speaker. Details in late June. Thursday, September 18: Annual meeting and DINNER in the DEPOT at Pearl Street Station in Malden, MA. Speaker TBA. Details in July. Saturday, October 18: Providence & Worcester FALL CIRCLE TOUR: Worcester - Providence - Groton CT via Shore Line - Worcester. A reprise of last year's trip, without the rare mileage but with photo stops. Details available late July. Saturday, January 3, 2009: Another 'STEAM IN THE SNOW' photo special on the Conway Scenic. In The Railroad Enthusiasts, Inc., you will find amateur and professional railroaders alike who share your enthusiasm for the rails, and are quite willing to share their experiences with you. We are organized into divisions from New England to the Midwest. For local RRE membership information, contact one of these Divisions near you.

Operating Railroad Sites: These sites are loosely defined as anything running 'full scale' equipment to haul freight or people as a means to generate revenue, and not primarily operated as a museum. Corporations Owning New England Lines: This generally is defined as an organization who has at least one holding that provides freight or passenger service to New England. Railroad Related Sites: These sites are loosely defined as anything that mimics railroads, promotes railroads, educates the public about railroads, preserves railroads, or any other site that may be of interest.

The H. Albert Webb Memorial Railroad Preservation Award

Mass Bay RRE member Leigh Webb created the H. Albert Webb Memorial Award in 2000 to recognize his father's love for New England railroading. Mass Bay RRE acts as Mr. Webb's agent in soliciting applications for the award, reviewing the completed applications, and administering the grants as they are used. Applications for the 2009 Award are no available.
