‘Rockland Road-Rail-Air Tour’
on the Maine Eastern Railroad
Brunswick, ME to Rockland and Return
including Motor Coach connection from Boston & points north

Saturday, July 26, 2008 ONLY!!

Yes, we’re going farther Downeast this summer – along the mid-coast area of Maine aboard the Maine Eastern Railroad’s classic train set of expertly-rebuilt heritage equipment from the fifties. Our destination is Rockland, Maine, home to a wide variety of activities, points of interest and shops that you can visit during our 3½ hour layover.

Our complete package tour includes Deluxe Motorcoach transportation from Boston & points north, the round-trip Maine Eastern train from Brunswick to Rockland and transfers & admission to the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum.

Our deluxe motorcoach will leave Boston’s South Station at 7:00 AM for the trip to Brunswick, making additional passenger stops at Anderson RTC in Woburn at 7:15 AM and Newburyport at 7:40 AM. An additional stop may be made at Portsmouth, NH if demand warrants; please call if interested.

We board the Maine Eastern train at Brunswick Junction. The air-conditioned consist includes ex-New Haven RR FL-9 diesels, Budd-built coaches and a dinette car. Departing from Brunswick at 10:20 AM, we’ll glide smoothly over the ex-Maine Central Rockland Branch, completely rebuilt in 2003, through the historic and picturesque seacoast towns of Bath, Wiscasset, Newcastle, Damariscotta, Waldoboro, Warren and Thomaston, arriving in Rockland at 12:25 PM at the restored MEC passenger station built in 1917. The Depot features a new restaurant, the Union Station Grille, which also caters the train’s dinette car.

Upon arrival in Rockland we will transfer to the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum, which will be staging its annual Transportation Spectacular & Aerobatic Show that day. There are numerous other activities available in Rockland – call for information or visit www.mainesmidcoast.com . Admission to other activities & events by individual settlement.

We depart Rockland on the MERR train’s 3:55 PM departure, retracing our route to Brunswick for a 6:00 PM arrival. Meal service will be available en route. Our motorcoach will return to Boston via Portland; arrival at South Station will be at approximately 9:30 PM.

Special Optional Lighthouse Tour: Lighthouse and Coastal Maine enthusiasts may choose an aerial tour of eleven lighthouses aboard a 5-passenger airplane based at Knox County Airport (home of OHTM). Sign up on order form below. For more information about this package see www.maineeasternrailroad.com/Pages/travel_packages.html#tpl

Southbound Downeaster Return: Our motorcoach will drop you at the Portland Amtrak Station, where you can catch trian 698's 8:15 PM departure for Boston (arrives Anderson RTC 10:19 PM, North Station 10:40 PM). Order on form below. (Note: morning northbound Downeaster service arrives in Portland too late to make a connection to the Maine Eastern.)
