Southeast Mass. Railroad Stations Tour with Author John Roy
Next on the tour was the ex New York, New Haven & Hartford railroad station at Nantasket Beach, Hull, Mass., built 1906/1915 in Spanish style with a distinctive clock tower. James Hardison of the Friends of the Paragon Park Carousel gave us a short tour of the station and merry-go-round, plus a few spins on the venerable amusement ride (at right of station). This building was later used by the Metropolitan District Commission (and by food, taffy and ice cream vendors on first floor).
On the way back, we passed parts of NH's abandoned Nantasket Beach branch, including two stone bridge abutments near Nantasket Junction, where we glimpsed final construction on the T's Greenbush extension.
