At the dock, where four more members joined us, we sensed something was amiss when the inbound ferry was late arriving. A coolant tube on one engine of the high-speed catamaran Ocean State had failed and needed replacing. After a period of uncertainty during which we didn't know whether the vessel would make the trip - and we had visions of Tom Laplante arranging a bus to get us to Newport - the crew finally gave a thumbs-up. We boarded and left for Newport, an hour late. |
