Mass Bay RRE Providence & Worcester Tripod Tour October 1, 2005
On this day, Mass Bay RRE chartered a Providence and Worcester train for a trip from Worcester to Gardner, Mass., and back; then to Red Top, Conn. (near Groton) and back; and finally to Valley Falls Yard in the Providence area and returning to Worcester.
The first leg was the Gardner Branch, going through Worcester, Barber, North Worcester, Holden, Jefferson, Brooks, Princeton, and Hubbardston to the Gardner yard.
The next leg was the Norwich Branch, passing through South Worcester, Auburn, Oxford, Webster, North Grosvenordale (CT), Klondike Junction, Putnam, Dayville, Danielson, Central Village, Plainfield, Jewett City, Norwich, Gales Ferry, and Redtop, where the crew changed ends for the return trip. Just beyond is the Groton Submarine Base.
The final leg was the Main Line - Worcester to Providence - passing through South Worcester, Millbury, Wilkinsonville, South Grafton, Northbridge, Riverdale, Whitinsville, Uxbridge, Millville, Blackstone, Woonsocket (RI), Albion, Ashton, Berkeley, Lonsdale, and Valley Falls to the Boston Switch, the point at which the P&W joins the Amtrak Northeast Corridor line.
